Touchdown under review: Pan Am wants questions answered on Ivor Wynne before approval.

Ivor Wynne Stadium
Bob Bratina and Bob Young have come up with a hailmary to try to erect a stadium at the original Ivor Wynne location; they even got council to accept their plans. This has many of the Hamilton faithful celebrating a last second touchdown for this city in terms of keeping the Tiger Cats in town. The play is under-review by  Pan Am CEO Ian Troop, at the end of the day he and Pan Am officials still have many questions they want answered by the latest plans.
“Regarding the new Hamilton Ivor Wynne renovation idea: Toronto 2015 has lots of questions and I’m sure many of you do as well,” said Ian Troop in a conference call with reporters. “We look forward to getting a full proposal from the city as quickly as possible to flesh this idea out.”

The two main questions Pan Am wants answers for (1) What will the funding formula be for the new site?; (2) What will the amateur-sport legacy at the venue be?
Hamilton City staff will be working overtime to come up with answers to these questions that they will present before Council on January 24th.
This great for the Tiger Cats and the city, but there are many other factors and questions that need to be addressed before the Feb 1st deadline.
“We must remember the mandate of the Pan-Am Games is to promote amateur sport,” said Troop. “The Games’ legacy is to create much-needed infrastructure, which promotes healthy, active communities and high-performance amateur athletic development. This new proposal needs to fulfill that.”

At the end of the day Pan Am and Ian Troop hold the dreams of Hamilton in the palm of their hands, they will decide if the new stadium proposal meets criteria. Until then, the touchdown celebration is under-review by Pan Am until further notice.
