Beware of Audcomp Computer Systems in Ancaster

I came across an add by Audcomp  Computer Systems in Ancaster for the Marketing co-ordinator ( Media Marketing Designer) position that is posted right now January 27th 2012 on Job Bank.
I got hired here along with another girl for about 3 weeks before we were let go and told that it wasn’t working out.

For 3 weeks these guys had us staying till 10pm every night to prepare  for an IT Conference building a website and over all execution of the conference. I remember the other girl who got hired with me. This girl was supposed to make designs for the site and whatever this poor girl came up with, Gary said that it wasn’t’ good enough (after she got fired, they used her designs anyways) I was there putting together not ONE, but TWO sites for these guys.

They bought a site developer program for about $80 and wanted me to make their site look like HP. A site that probably spent close to a million dollars Gary Sohal (Owner) wanted me to make it look like HP.  I worked my butt off for 3 weeks, I would stay at the office until 10pm, then come home and continue. As a guy who was trying to prove himself, I got very little sleep those 3 weeks.

They made an impossible amount of work that needed to be done, this way you work as hard as possible and they also have an easy way of firing you.
Gary Sohal wanted me to build 2 websites, call wineries to get free wine for the conference, make a video, write up articles and update their website. This of course is designed for a team, not ONE person.
I also spent my own gas money going to the Niagara District School Board to look the part of an “expert” marketer so they can sell their conference. Of course I wasn’t reimbursed for my gas like promised.
These 3 weeks was the worst job experience of my life and I’ve worked at Dofasco in the coke ovens.

After the girl had been fired I had this weird feeling that this job wasn’t going to end so well.
As I came to the completion of the two sites, the very same day that I completed the second site, I was asked to come into the office and told that “this wasn’t working out” and of course both my sites were used for their IT Conference. The funny part is that Gary brought his wife and kids into work that day.

I guess he wanted to show his kids how to fire people and make them feel worthless.
What these guys do by the looks of it, is that they hire a young and upcoming Marketing employee who wants to prove him/herself and then use and abuse them until they get what they want or  just quit. Either way history shows that it’s not going to end well for the employee.

I see that the Marketing Co-ordinator position is being posted again and I’m going to assume to help with their bogus IT CONFERENCE or some other project that needs to be done in the next couple of months ( in a hurry).
I also would like to thank them as well because I ended up with the most amazing job I can dream of and it was them firing me that lead me to it.

I have nothing bad to say about any of my past employers in the last 15 years I have ever worked for, but BEWARE of AUDCOMP COMPUTER SYSTEMS in Ancaster.

Every person hired or interviewed by these guys should know what you’re getting yourself into.
If they think they can just mess with people’s lives, then they should also know that eventually people will start talking about it.
I remember one day Gary called me into his office and started screaming at me because of my "horrible" writing; I would like him to critique this piece.

This is my experience and I can only hope to save some other young person out there who is trying to make it and will be chewed up and spit out by Audcomp.

  4. Google Audcomp and this article is the second one below Audcomp’s website.

Looks like the money AUDCOMP saved is nothing compared to the money this bad press is costing them.
Good for you boy, I just wish we had blogs in my day so I can blog about some of the scum that employed me.

  5. I was a employee at Audcomp in Ancaster.
I worked for Audcomp for 5 years and can say I feel the pain of many.
I have seen how they treat people and can say it's not nice.
One day you are a good guy the next you are on their hit list. In my time at Audcomp I seen many people come and go.
In fact within five years I was the only tech left that was there when I started.
A 100 percent turn around in employees in 5 years, must be a reason for that.
Audcomp also fired me, for something they made up. I took them to the labour board and won the case, you can do the same.
Audcomp has no feelings about people and will use or do whatever they feel to there employees to benefit themselves.
I have not worked for a company like it in my 35 year work history.
The company has no respect for there customers or employees go elsewhwere is all I can say.

  6. This article saved me from applying to this company. Thanks all!

  7. 1 or 2 times a year, Audcomp hires and fires people, All for a-Tech show they put on for macmaster one of their major Clients. Always Gary hires before this, and pretty much fires them once completed. Forced over time is mandatory for this company. Oh and don't think you'll be paid an hourly rate. if an meeting or after hours project was called , then his way of reimbursement was with paying you with Pizza! FFS. I was in service department, and was used and abused by this company, i worked my ass of for him for years for just above minimum wage, I eventually Quit. Never looked back. Previous comments are correct in what they say, right now there is NO people working there, which were employed when i was there. All are Gone, high turn around, over priced, most techs are paid 12 to `15 dollars / hour, Audcomp charges over $125 for onsite, and 80 / hour in-house,. Beware of any training they give you, make sure that you are not responsible now or later for any training course cost. I know of a couple of previous employees whom Gary has tried to sue, for training costs and/or Course cost upon that person either wanting to leave or being terminated from that company. Gary is not afraid to lawyer up, to intimidate and bully you for his benefit. Gary of course will never be hurt by any of this he's a very rich man, built on others sweat , and his Familys money (old money is the term i believe, from india). Audcomp is his diversion, to keep busy, and make some more money. Kudos to him but he don't need to trample on others to further himself. I have seen him treat people atrociously , and plot and conspire to terminate them. I would recommend anyone to not consider working for this company at any time. Unless you wish to be abused and underpaid for that privilege.

    1. I hate to admit it but I agree with parts the previous post. (Primarily with the pay rate, and the work environment.) If you do work here, then at least it is a good start as Audcomp looks clean and very reputable from the outside. Get the experience and then move on to greener pastures.

  8. Someone should contact McMaster and let them know to drop these guys business.

    1. I completely agree with the above comments. I worked in Sales and it was like stepping back into the dark ages before there was human rights codes! The salespeople are chained to their desks, allowed only 30 minutes for lunch and if you are a minute late they reprimand you. It's like a Daycare center for people who want to be babysat. As well, someone should contact the people publishing the VAR100 as Audcomp has risen up the ranks from #29 to #22 which represents an increase of about 10-20 million dollars and I sat through meetings which stated that there was no growth in Audcomps IT revenue for that period!!!!!.... and when I briefly looked into the criteria for stating revenues at the VAR 100, you needed company financials or a letter from the CFO stating your results......the CFO for Audcomp is Gary's wife!.....Does the word Fraud come to mind? and this is typical of the misrepresentation that exists throughout the company. The place is a disaster, they are gutless in how they fire people. Rarely does your manager fire you at Audcomp as they get the office clerk/manager to do that for them who has little HR training/background but kisses Gary's butt like the current Sales Manager and a handful of other employed at Audcomp over the years. The unfortunate thing about these people who have worked their for 5 or more years is that they think Audcomp is a typical environment and they couldn't be further from the truth.

  9. I have worked for Audcomp and when I went in for my interview at Audcomp - Gary was the first person to interview me... after I waited an hour for my interview I finally sat down with Gary and the first question he asked me was what position I was applying for and how much I was expecting to make, when I explained I was there for the Network Technician position and wanted roughly $40,000 starting he started telling me that no one will hire starting IT staff at that rate and that someone with my background would be lucky to get started at $26,000. Gary has no Idea what he is talking about and he is a disgrace to the IT profession...

I have now moved on from Audcomp and currently make a shit load more then I ever would have dreamed of making at audcomp. There are only 4 people at audcomp that make decent money other then Gary and his wife... and that his management staff. He has no respect for people and their lives he just wants the best worker he can get for the cheapest price.

well news flash for you gary... if you paid your staff a little more they might actually stick around and make you even more money... not have the technicians quit because they are unhappy about being abused and have to rehire a new technician and teach them all over again... your customers really hate when they get a new technicians but you don't give a shit! maybe that's why your companys loosing money?

Hey, how's that new Christmas party location? down graded from the ancaster golf and country to the mandarin? ahahaha

    1. Sad but true. I worked here for a bit and got caught up in the fancy office exterior, and nice sales floor. Then realizing that there are juvenile rules and somewhat unethical things on the inside. They close during the holidays and you have to use your vacation if you actually want to be paid during that forced shutdown.

If you are looking for work, then this could be a good starting point (if you are looking for little pay that is.) Get the experience, recognize that companies shouldn't be run this way, employees shouldn't be treated this way, and move on.

  14. Ross & McBride lawyer Mark Abradjian has decided to attack this blogs Freedom of Speech and has threatened legal action if this article is not taken down my February 15 2013. We are in the process of contacting local/provincial/national media, along with local bloggers to help us. BLOGGER has many rules and regulations that bloggers have to follow; this story does not fall under any of those. Thank you all who replied to this and we will continue to expose the taking advantage of others. I am very surprised that a local Legal Firm like Ross & McBride has decided to send a letter on Feb 14 and demand its contents be taken down in one day. Anyone interested in getting into the Freedom of Speech debate, please contact us directly.

Many have died in this country for our right to freedom of speech.

  15. Remember to contact your local media/journalists, they LOVE stories like this, especially if lawyers get involved with Freedom of Speech. I will email you a list of people who would love to take a bite of this type of story. Also if you don't mind, can you send me the letter you were sent by the legal firm, I may have free legal representation if need be. Keep fighting to good fight.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don't get it. Please post the letter and share with us what the lawyer sent. All I see is a story about how a guy got fired and talked about his ordeal.

Followed by other workers who found the site and posted their stories.

Don't worry about this, if this was the case, companies like Walmart, Nike, McDonalds any big time corporation would be suing bloggers alike who do not agree with their business practices. Shame on Ross & McBride or the lawyer who may embarrass them on this issue. Please post the letter as well as all of us bloggers would love to circulate this. My grandfather died so we can have freedom of speech. If you don't like it, move to Egypt, Chine or any other country that censors their internet. SHAME ON YOU Ross & McBride.

It's obvious who anonymous is (see Feb.18 & Feb.20 posts) and you would think they should be working on Audcomp's crazy turn-over issue or getting much needed golf lessons as opposed to transparent attempts to discredit this blog site......it's a joke that a lawyer has been contacted because this organization spends a fair share of its time in court rooms defending their brutal practises that have been highlighted in this Blog..........Keep the examples coming as it is working!!!!
