Police Blotter for August 25 to September 1

Wood and James
Sept.1 – Witnesses call police when a woman driving a car and a man on the street have an argument around 10 a.m. The man, 47, walks to the rear of the car and she reverses, knocking him to the ground. He suffers minor injuries. Police arrest the woman on scene. The 43-year-old is charged with dangerous driving and assault with a weapon.

Fairholt north of Main
Sept.1 – A 41-year-old woman is approached by a man who grabs her purse at 12:30 p.m. He’s joined by two others and they flee the area. She is not injured. Police are investigating.

King and James
Aug. 30 – A women and two female youths are stopped inside the Royal Classic Bags Store in Jackson Square at 6 p.m., leaving with unpaid merchandise. They hit the 49-year-old employee who confronts them. The suspects, 22, 17 and 15, are charged with assault, and theft and possession under $5,000.

Barton and Kenilworth
Aug. 30 – A gas line is struck by construction crews causing a leak at around 2:30 p.m. Traffic and pedestrians are re-routed until Union Gas repairs the line.

Reid and Queenston
Aug. 30 – A group of teenage girls force their way into a home when the owner opens the door at 9:30 p.m.. They assault the two adults inside and their daughter, who is known to the suspects. The girls flee before police arrive. The investigation is ongoing.

Beckett Drive

Aug. 30 – A down-bound car collides with the east and west guard rails at 11:30 a.m., and then strikes a southbound driver. A 74-year-old Hamilton man is charged with impaired driving and refusing to give a breath sample.

Centennial and Queenston
Aug. 30 – A southbound driver attempts a left turn onto Queenston just before 6 p.m. They collide with a northbound vehicle, sending them through a parking lot and into a variety store wall. No one is seriously injured. Police are investigating.

Market Street
Aug. 29 – Police ACTION team finds a man smoking marijuana on the Jackson Square roof top at 4 p.m.  After a short foot chase, officers catch the man on Market Street.  The 33-year-old from Vaughan is charged with possession.

Kenilworth and Albany
Aug. 29 –A southbound driver veers off the road and into a hydro pole at 7 p.m. He is taken to hospital for minor injuries and given a breath test. The 34-year-old from Hamilton is charged with impaired driving over 80 milligrams. He blew .210 and .200.

Parkdale and Main
Aug. 28 – Police stop an erratic driver at 3 a.m. The man refuses to give a breath sample and threatens to kill the officer.  After a brief struggle the man is arrested. The 37-year-old of no fixed address is charged with assault police while resisting arrest and uttering death threats.

Upper Ottawa and Larch
Aug. 28 – A masked man holding a handgun and a knife demands the clerk at the Husky gas bar to open the locked door at 3 a.m. The employee refuses and the man flees empty handed.

King and Dundurn
Aug. 29 – A gas station employee calls police at 4:30 a.m. when a customer appears intoxicated. The 46-year-old man is taken in for a breath test and hits .240 and .230. He’s charged with impaired driving over 80 milligrams.

Burlington and Kenilworth
Aug. 28 – Police clock a driver going 129 kilometres an hour in a 60 zone. The 31-year-old Hamilton woman is charged with stunt driving. They seize her car and licence.

Cannon and Hughson

Aug. 27 – Police stop a driver for a traffic violation at 8 p.m. As the officer speaks to the man, he drives away. He stops again for police a short distance down the street. The 43-year-old Burlington man is taken in for a breath test and charged with impaired driving over 80 milligrams. No readings are available.

Nakoma Road

Aug. 27 – Police respond to alarms at Ancaster Senior Public school at 1:30 a.m., and spot three males running from the building. K-9 locates two suspects, ages 18 and 17. A third man is arrested at home later that morning.  They are charged with break and enter.  The 17-year-old is also charged with possession of marijuana. Stolen electronics are returned to the school.

Catharine and Main
Aug. 26 – A man drinking beer in a parking lot approaches patrons on an outdoor patio just after 8 p.m.  He assaults one customer and then the bar owner who tries to intervene. Police pepper spray the man when he becomes combative with officers.  A 41-year-old Hamilton man is charged with causing a disturbance and uttering threats.

Progreston and Idared
Aug. 25 – A driver strikes a tree and crashes onto a front lawn at 6 p.m. While the car is demolished, the man and a 12-year-old boy inside it are not injured. The 48-year-old Carlisle man is taken in for a breath test and blows .200 and .190. He’s charged with impaired driving over 80 milligrams.
