US STEEL offers last and final contract offer before Saturday deadline.

U. S. Steel has made a new offer to 900 Hamilton workers facing a potential lock out Saturday morning.

It's not clear the terms of the deal and if its any different from the deal that has been offered for the last couple of months.

Ontario Law offers a vote to be done on "final" offers. If this goes to a vote, I think that the majority will vote in favor of keeping their jobs.

What do you think should happen??

UPDATE: Steelworkers president Rolf Gerstenberger says his union is not likely to vote on a final offer presented by U.S. Steel Thursday night.

  1. This is very sad. I hope this can be settled and just before Christmas for this to happen is a shame. Why don't the guys at Dofasco have this problem?? They don't have a Union and I don't remember the amount of problems Stelco has had in the last 2 years that Dofasco has experienced in 10. Get rid of the Unions, this isn't the 1900's anymore.

  2. I think this rolfe dude is nuts... He is getting paid no matter what. Is he really thinking about the men or just himself... My husband is the only income in this family due to a bad car accident, I cannot work and we have 2 kids in university, should they lose just because this Rolfs has no balls to let the men vote... I have no health care now, now what do I do for my meds. no income to pay for them thanks alot you jerk.

  4. dofasco never had a problem with unions because the steel-woekers union fought for them through unionized plants !!.......dofasco workers have only the union and the unionized workers to thank for the wages and benefits they have enjoyed over the years !!........no thanks to non-unionized plants who never went on strike nor ever stood at a picket line to show any support !!....
