Parking metres a failure in downtown Stoney Creek, time to bring back FREE PARKING

I’m happy to hear that free street parking may be returning to downtown Stoney Creek. During my election campaign in 2010 I was strongly against the paid parking metres. Not only were they a waste of money, but we were targeting senior citizens who attend the legion in the area.

The city's general issues committee recommended getting rid of downtown parking meters in both Stoney Creek and Waterdown Friday.
The metres were projected to bring in $176, 00 a year, but only $53,000 was the actual revenue, proving that it was a waste of tax payer’s and their goal was unsuccessful.

The decision for parking metres to be eliminated from downtown Stoney Creek streets needs to be ratified at the next council meeting.

  1. The meters should never have been placed in Waterdown and Stoney Creek to begin with its good to see them gone ,Illumination for 2012 for all of Stoney Creek and Waterdown .I think somebody blogged that a few weeks back but not in that context of community spirit but it can to pass that the goodbye for the meters are just the start of regaining the community back.
